Jed was thinking...

Roleplaying games have been around approximately 20 years now, maybe even longer. Thats longer than many of us reading this page have been alive.

Every gamer, after his or her first contact with a roleplaying game, someday aspires to create thier own; everybody's ideal roleplaying game is subtly different in infinitely many ways--and it is infinitely special to them just as much.

Roleplaying games have come a long way, but they should be going further! With cheap computer technologies, wide connectivity, and with processor power crouched on so many desks...doesn't it make sense to publish a roleplaying game using HTML?

The World Wide Web seems like an ideal place to quickly gather and organize people and ideas. As this web site and the game develop, we invite you to take part in helping playtest and explore our inventions. We're looking for feedback about the playability of the Robowars Roleplaying game, and the usability of this web site. So please feel free to mail us with your ideas!

What is a roleplaying game?

Well...I'm not going to answer that now. It's a safe, inexpensive way to keep your children off the streets and happy at the same time.

Will you be writing a Robowars MUD?

No. I'm not interested in playing games on computers. I'm interested in spending quality time hanging out with my friends. Computers are inherently anti-social. It's the truth. I'm destributing this role playing game online because it's much cheaper than selling it as a book. Me (Jed) and the rest of us, are much more interested in creating a good roleplaying universe to play in, and not so much making ourselves poor while trying to sell it before it's time!

Then what about these "Robowars Programs?"

If you look at the current projects you will see that I've been working on ideas for software tools for this roleplaying game. I think that since the galaxy is such a big place, why not allow your computer to do all the hard work, to let the DM get back to what's important: relating a good adventure to the players!

Personally, I would like to see The Robowars Roleplaying Game universe catch on further than just an RPG. I won't stop people from helping out by writing "Robowars MUDS" or "Robowars Videogames"... it furthers the idea of the game; I'm not about to write those programs, though. Someone else can.
