Cyrus' creations propagated and "evolved" beyond anything Cyrus could have imagined at that time. After the fall of the old Triconian regime, the descendants of Hawk, Reynolds and Sterling took it upon themselves to fill the vacuum made by the Triconians' collapse. Ruling from Cyrus' Star, they consolidated a cluster of 248 systems and guided their people through the Galactic Dark Age. At this point the Empire was merely a benevolent and dedicated caretaker of worlds which otherwise would have sank into the same chaos that consumed the rest of the Triconian planets.
This continued for roughly four millennia; a time of peace and preservation. The rulers had organized themselves into noble houses, and developed a system of rule by rotation: upon the death of one family's chosen emperor, the next family in line provided an emperor. Hawks, Reynolds and Sterlings proceeded to shepherd the Cyran people with admirbale success.
Eventually the system began to stagnate. The triumvirate of clans prevented any new exploration, and no alien races appeared in the empire. The population grew lazy and utterly dependent upon the government to provide for their pampered way of life. Few new technologies were developed.
Eventually their isolationist oblivion was interrupted by the arrival of humans claiming to be Triconians. Their leader was Jake Stalin, who nominated himself for rulership on the grounds that he was a descendant of the Sterling family.
The Sterling family itself had deteriorated into a feeble mockery of its former might; the clan elders were unable to disprove the man's claim, and Jake Stalin stepped into the void left by the death of Tomahawk, the late ruler of Cyrus' Star.
The Reynolds family was appalled! The new leader of the clan, Harm Reynolds, ordered the immediate exodus of all Reynolds family, clansmen and chattel from Cyrus' Star. Harm was the son of Grip Reynolds, who had engineered the death of Tomahawk and paid with his life at the hands of Jake Stalin. However, Harm exceeded his father in both malevolence and ingenuity; he swiftly declared himself Emperor of all Reynolds-dominated worlds, which far outstipped that of the Hawks' and Sterlings combined. He decreed the planets of Glyptol and Megathere to be the twin capitols of the empire, and moved to sweep several neutral Cyran worlds under his banner. Many were only too happy to comply with this intense, venomous young man who had a terrible difficulty in taking no for an answer.
Since that, the empire and its ruling Reynolds clan have remained an enigmatic and powerful foe to most everyone else in the sector. Harm's grand plans of taking back Cyrus' Star have been rudely interrupted by the resurgence of Orisian expansion on Cyran borders. However, Harm and his people are rather arrogant and don't believe that mere humans like the over-cybernated Orisians could ever defeat the glorious and ancient descendants of Cyrus Reynolds.
Harm has a body of senators from each Cyran world to assist and carry out his plans. Each world furnishes one senator to Harm's parliament.
